On December 7, 1941, “A Day that will live in infamy", as FDR had proclaimed, I came across this article printed only a week or so later on December 18, 1941 in The Bergen Evening Record newspaper. They article speaks of a more lighter subject of a young man from Hackensack, 20 year old Stanley Drake winning a contest for the most photogenic amateur in the United States. A follow up photo of him appeared in The Bergen Evening Record on January 15, 1942, which shows Stanley Drake with the other girl contestant winner and the famous actress, Claudette Colbert, together on a tour of Hollywood as the contest had advertised.

I would assume he entered service after this article appeared, being of draft age, but as of now I do not know where or when he served. He was 20 years old at the time so he would have graduated from Hackensack around 1938? I am not sure he went to Hackensack High School, but he was a resident of the city at the time of the contest.
